Welcome to week 3's blog. This week in math we started a new unit on multiplication. We learned that arrays shows objects in equal rows and columns. We also learned that when objects are in equal groups we can multiply to find the answer.
In writing we worked with a partner to revise our friendly letters and make them better. We looked to see if we needed to add, cut, and move information. We also edited each others letters for spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Now we are publishing them.
In reading we are learning about informational text (non-fiction). We read a piece of  text about the leaning tower of Pisa, called Stopping a Toppling Tower. We identified the features of non-fiction, such as titles, heading, and pictures, and talked about how they help us understand the text. We also looked at how this text was structured. This text was a problem-solution type text.
In science, we tracked our shadows. We discovered that our shadows move throughout the day. They move because the Sun changes position in the sky. In the morning our shadows pointed west, and after lunch they pointed northeast.
It's been a hot, busy week! Check back next week to see what we've been up to.
Love,
The students of B-12
